Run For Steem: Sometimes It Is Not About the Run but the Company...

Hey there my fellow Steemians!  Happy Sunday, Easter, and April Fool's... In my neck of the woods it has been a stunning weekend, so I've been quite happy to get a little bit of time out in the spring sunshine!  With all of the birthdays and quite a few new things going on at work I haven't had quite as much online time, but I don't think that's always such a bad thing.

It also means the weather has been quite nice for running, so I couldn't neglect to join in on my favorite non-food challenge each week.  ;) This post will count as my #runforsteem to continue to support @jumowa's wonderful initiative to keep folks moving.  Check out the latest post here to join in with this great crew: https://steemit.com/runforsteem/@jumowa/weekly-run-for-steem-challenge-mar-27th-apr-3rd-and-payout-for-last-week

You can see all the trees in our backyard are starting to wake up from their winter slumber.  I was quite pleased to take a little time after my run this morning to just sit on the porch and soak up some sunshine with the sounds of Spring in my ears.  Nature really can be so soothing if you can take the time to just take it all in.  I have learned over my years in the health industry that rest is just as important as exercise and nutrition in maintaining your health, so I try to take my moments of recovery and stress-release where I can.

I had really hoped to get a long run in on Friday, but that just didn't happen.  I managed to squeeze in 1200 meter repeats with a strength circuit in between.  Then I though maybe today after running with my friend I might tack on some extra miles to make up for it, but while my body could have handled it my heart was just not in it.  Today was one of those days the run was more about spending some much needed time with a close friend than getting in the speed or distance.

We ended up getting in just over 4 miles, which isn't terrible considering we had our third running buddy, Theo, with us.  He usually has some great stamina, but when it starts getting warmer out he has a harder time hanging on for longer runs.  He can't help it, the short snout does him in.  I'm always happy to have him come along, though.  @dksart and I don't have a dog, but I do love to get a little love from a sweet pup every now and then!

My friend also felt a little fatigued today.  Could be in part the pollen, but her neighborhood is also quite hilly.  While the weather is stunning right now, it always coincides with layers of pollen as everything starts to bloom all at once.  Still totally worth it to get outside, though. ;)  We at least got a little bit faster as we went along.  I also wore my heart rate monitor for the first time in a while, and I averaged about 140 beats/minute so I still stayed in a range that would maintain my aerobic capacity.

I've been doing a lot of my miles alone, so I won't pass up a run with a friend when I get a chance.  I'll get in some more solid runs this week on my own, but for today I was quite content with an easy run with my gal pal!

I hope you all got some nice moments to keep your heart happy (in more ways than one) this weekend, as well!

Oh Katie! That is nice seeing all those trees waking up as you said in the backyard of your home!

This whole weekend was beautiful! I can't complain at all. I hope you are getting some nicer weather, as well!

You are so wonderful Katie!! Thanks for being my rolemodel!!

Aww, you inspire me daily with your beautiful photography and kind heart, so I'm happy to return the favor in the fitness department! :)

Haha yea you really do a great job Katie! I am always inspired by your energy!😍

I absolutely love this! I stopped running awhile ago which I totally don't know why cause I was absolutely loving it and now having a hard time getting baby into it. This post was not only a lovely read but a great boost of motivation! Going to get my ass up and also run for steem! ❤️❤️❤️

I've had my ups and downs where I don't run as much, but I always come back to it because it does just feel so good to have it as a part of my routine! I'm happy to share the love and help inspire others to lace up their sneakers and get back out there. :) Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I hope you get those shoes on and join us!!

I definitely will be lacing up and joining you very soon! Thanx again for the motivation! Yesterday I did my first workout in too long and you were definitely part of the inspiration! 😘

Nice! One workout down, plenty more to come. :)

The scenery is very beautiful views, I am a nature lover, I see the natural nuance in this post I am interested in following you.

We have been blessed with stunning weather the last few days, so I'm trying to get out there and enjoy it while it lasts! It really is quite soothing to the soul to spend time in the trees. Thank you for stopping in and leaving a comment!

Happy Easter to you! Glad you got a good run in today, I settled for a walk on the beach and yoga lol. When is your next scheduled race? I loved doing races...but my back didn't so much. I still run about 3 miles sometimes, just can't daily. Nothing like a good run, well done!

Happy Easter to you, as well! I hope you had a beautiful day! I probably need a little yoga, too. :) My next race is in a month. Another half marathon. I'm running 3-4 times per week right now, but still make time for my strength and mobility training. If I want to keep enjoying running I need a good balance.

I am happy for you. The last time I ran a half marathon was about 20 years ago. It was so fun! I must say, I started a commitment to yoga in January and I am amazed. I feel so much stronger, more flexible and core strength is much better. (I had a yoga teacher who was a runner encourage me to take it) You should really! There is a YouTube show by the name of Yoga with Adrienne .....she is so sweet, and very good. Check her out! (It'll help your running ;) )

I love that YouTube channel! She has a few really fantastic hip opening routines. I just need to finally make it a part of my routine. It's been a goal for a while, so it's just figuring out how to make it habit for life!

misposted ;)
