Today I got to open up a little toy I bought for myself. A brand new heart monitor to monitor my running progress. I used to have an old version of this bad boy but it got lost in one of the many moves over the last 4 years.
Either way. I'm once again collecting some sweet sweet data on my cardiovascular endeavours. I was pretty motivated a few years ago just by collecting and analyzing my performance data, so I'm hoping it can help kick me back into high gear. I don't know what it is, but for some reason I've lost most of the passion I used to have for running -- maybe I need to reshape my perspective and set out a new challenge rather than 'just running'? Before, it used to be "be able to run 10km" or "run a half marathon" or "run a half marathon in under 2hrs".... but after accomplishing the goals I've put in front of myself, I seem to be having a hard time getting back into it. Maybe I'm at that point where further goals are harder and require real effort, rather than just a passing interest and commitment.
Anyhow! Today was an absoloutely beautiful day to be running along some of the nicest Canadian waterfront that there is. Blue skies, warm air, harbour seals, and some funky beats brought to you by one of my favorites.
I'm not sure if there's much of a running community on here, but if there's not, by god I'm gonna start one. Feeling pretty good today after a short 4~5km jaunt in the crisp winter air. I'm going to try to do a short blog post after each run, so I can evaluate how I think it went. Fellow steemians and runnning-thugs -- what online services do you use to monitor your progress / track data / socialize with running buddies? I've recently become partial to the open-source "RUNALYZE" site -- this is my page here
I felt pretty sluggish out there today -- I've been pretty lazy over the last 5 months or so, and have eaten substantial amounts of candy. However, whenever I remind myself to slow down and listen to my body, and get back into a rhythm with my heart-rate, I start hitting that stride and it starts feeling easy again.
Anyone else get out there today? How'd it go!?
Hope to see some of you out on the streets! Keep on keepin' on!

Thanks, bud! I'm pretty new here though -- can you explain what this gratitude stuff means? Maybe I can drop some gratitude on someone one day.

Hey 3x/week is pretty good! I'm lucky if I motivate myself enough to get out once or twice a week. Glad to see there's other runners on here as well.
