# 30 Wednesday training: intervals

in running •  7 years ago  (edited)

Yesterday I started my training with 15 minutes warming up, then I had 10x repeating of 1'15" high tempo running and 30" easy tempo running. And the rest was easy run and walk to cool down.

I've chosen bike path next to one quiet road between Bussum and Hilversum.
I really like that road, there are no zebras, traffic lights, and because and it isn't busy at all. The path is beautiful, there are a lot of trees around. It will be even more beautiful when the spring comes.

Take a look at the map where I was running yesterday:

And here are the intervals:

Well, not bad, few times I've reached average speed again more then 11km/h. That is definitely a good sign and I am proud of all my efforts showing results. But, what yesterday didn't work for me, was too short recovery intervals of only 30 seconds. I felt I needed more time to recover after 75" high tempo.
I felt that my legs could do more, but the engine, my heart just couldn't pump so much. I was kind of afraid to let myself run faster, just because of fear of ...I don't know what. What a strange feeling. I had to choose to keep controlling my breathing instead of pushing the tempo. What an annoying acknowledging. My heart was beating as crazy, I needed more air. During two intervals that I supposed to run easy, I walked.

I have 9 days more, to try to do something about it
I've decided to run every day until 3rd March, I hope that might help me to better control breathing and to be in a bit better condition.

Today at the evening, I'll do quick intervals with 30" high tempo and 30" easy tempo. I've done that many times before, and that combination was fine for me. Today I just want to see how it feels again after few months.

For the end of this post, I am virtually sending you regards, with this moto of the day:
The only one bad workout is the one that didn't happened.

Cheers,
@nelzie

Hi Nelzie
I had some good fitness results with 30second sprints as part of a 5km run.
Hill sprints seem to work best for me.
Keep up the good work!

hi, thank you for your comment. There are some areas with a bit uneven terrain, but unfortunately almost nothing around me that could be called hills.
Yesterday evening I had a bit time to do some 30'/30' switching. Now the intervals seemed so short, hehe, after Wednesday's 75'/30' ;)
