10K Charity MoRunning Race – Manchester

in running •  6 years ago  (edited)

@bingbabe attended this run today. She tells me its something related to Mo Farrah hence the name. I thought I would do a short write up as I know she won’t!

We were a little late (as usual) and @bingbabe needed the loo. 2 minutes before the kickoff and she's still queuing up.

Don’t think she’s a compulsive Cheshire cat grinner, as soon as the camera vanishes the grin goes just as quickly.

She forgot to load up ActiFit so that’s another reason for me to post this instead of her.

Some, actually many were running in fancy dress. It seems to be a common thing in England recently.

It kicked off at 9am, far too bloody early for me on a Sunday morning. We had to rise at 7am which is why the post I shorter than normal for me. I'm going to crash as soon as it's written on the blockchain.

Despite being so early, a lot attended, in fact around 800. This is a major city after all. The blue name tags are the 5k people and the orange the 10k.

IMG_4878.JPG

As she was a little late to start @bingbabe got hampered by the slow ones in front of her. It didn’t take her long to get ahead though.

I took a few action shots with the iPhone burst mode. It’s not a DLR by any means but I can choose the best from 15 or so shots.

She looked to be doing well but I was shocked to find out that the finish line judge blared out on the megaphone, ‘Here’s the first female 10k finisher’.

IMG_4950.JPG

There were a lot of runners, and she finished 21st in total, that’s including the men!

IMG_4952.JPG

Some going I would say, so after the interview with the bloke with the loudspeaker which was all of a single question, I got a few more shots.

As well the regular medal, she now has a ‘champions' medal too. It's going up on eBay later, anyone interested?

Yes, I'm a bit proud of her. Alright I'm really proud of her!

Official Time for 10k: 46 minutes, 46 seconds.

Wow! @bingbabe did well! You can tell from the first photo that she's running fast. I used to run 10Ks quite frequently and I was overjoyed when I did it in less than an hour! My fastest time was about 57mins.

This was a fantastic result and @bingbabe looks like she just breezed it! Congratulations to her and good thing she has a Boswell to record her moments of triumph. I love the way she is smiling in the photographs, even when she's running, and the way she is coming up on the outside near the beginning. Excellent!

I'll show her the comment, the front runner actually fell and got injured, so she might have been second. These things happen.

I'm sorry for the front runner, but still a very good result.
Did you enjoy the last day of your stay? I thought it was an interesting city.

Wow that's impressive!

I had a feeling @bing-babe was fast but first woman is some going.

Congrats to her, that'd a great start to a Sunday!

Congratulations @bingbabe ! That’s really a fast time!

You go gurl!

Need to check and see if she is on actifit because that would be a lot of steps.....

Awesome job! Sounds like it was a pretty productive Sunday and all before 10:00 AM. Nothing wrong with that. I was up around that time too cleaning the house :P

I look forward to my lie in's sometimes. I didn't get one last weekend :(

Incredible. Her super power is running.
Lovely shots...
thanks for showing us the event. :)

Way to go @bingbabe! That's a fantastic time for a 10k! Hope you both enjoyed a little rest afterwards. 😉

What a star! I got the feeling when we ran together that she could have raced ahead, but then she does more miles in a week than I do in a month.

Yes, she is an insatiable runner. I hear some get an endorphin rush when running. Wish it would happen to me, I just feel like collapsing. She really enjoyed that run with you and @revisesociology, thanks for that.

Me too it was a good start to the morning.

Endorphines yes - I get that!
