Fifty runs till May #40

Run #40/50 - 80%: ✔

Today was the 4th Friday in a row that I went langlaufen and I think it was by far the nicest one. As I predicted yesterday after the fresh snow, the 'loipen' were in fantastic condition and the sun was also shining, so it would have been a pity to have missed out on this opportunity. One thing I didn't count on was the extreme cold.

Fantastic conditions today ...

  • Weather: -9 degrees C with sun and fresh snow on the ground
  • Distance: 14 kilometers
  • Time: 2 hours
  • Pace: 7,0 kph
  • Training Effect: 2,6 = Improving

... but also extremely cold (my dashboard when I arrived today)

My dashboard showed me that it was -9 and my app even went as far as -10, but I didn't notice the cold anymore once I got into motion, especially with the sun out. The conditions were just perfect.

I went for another part of the course today, which proved both extremely beautiful, but also a huge challenge as there was a large descent in this part, which is something that I'm not practised in and I also fell a few times attempting to do the descent. I injured myself by spraining something in my upper-left arm, this didn't stop me from continuing and under the circumstances I'm happy with the results. Especially as it's a new course, which I'll definitely do more in the future as it's stunning.

I finally got to do #5 today, really nice but extremely difficult due to the climb

Enjoy these pictures that I made today during my course.

First I had to cross a bridge to the 'new' part

... and then it's Welcome to Winterwonderland

I'm really proud of myself making this big climb on skiis in 'Loipen' ...

... This is where I came from ...

... and this is still ahead of me. After the bend it goes down again. That's where the trouble started for me 😒

I did another running post today. I wasn't that fit today and I could never get near your 35k. Yes I read your post and I'm following you now. Very cool post!

Man, -9C, that's cold. Looks beautiful though.

Thanks, but you don't notice the cold when you're moving and the sun is shining like that.

-9 Degrees? WTF!!!
are you sane? :-)
Keep on running!

LOL, you don't notice the cold when you're moving and the sun is shining like that.

You really enjoy running! U are so motivational, I think I will make some squats :))
cheers @wolfje

LOL, thank you. I love langlaufen and as it's different from running I don't need to rest between the 2 exercises.

Is it far away from Basel?

Yes, a bit. It's 50 minutes by car from Zürich and Basel to Zürich is about 45 minutes without traffic.

i love the pictures you add to the post , can one really skate in places like this

There are 2 types of langlaufen, classic and skating and the skating looks a lot like what people do on the street or on ice, but on skiis.

thanks for the tip man
