Fifty runs till May #48 and the Steem Running Project

Run #48/50 - 96%: ✔

Today I had difficulties motivating myself. Both my running-partners were away, the temperature was below 0 degrees this morning, I wasn't feeling well ... all the factors not to go out for a run, but I did it anyway and in the process I set a new distance record for myself.

The destruction is still visible everywhere I ran

  • Weather: 0 degrees with poor visibility due to low fog so quite humid, but dry
  • Distance: 12,15 kilometers
  • Time: 1 hour and 10 minutes
  • Pace: 5:45 min/km
  • Training Effect: 4,4 = Highly Improving

I set off today in the hope that I could resume some of my old course after the devastation caused by the hurricane almost 2 weeks to go. I quickly found out that the people looking after our woods had too much work on their hands and many parts were still not able to access, so I had to just hope for the best.

This used to be very thick woods, where I've seen many deer. Now it's a new open place in the forrest.

In the end I managed to do most of our own 'normal' route, but I did have to traverse over fallen trees and watch my step carefully at several parts. In the end I took a few unnessesary risks, like passing below a fallen over tree or going off the paths to get over trees. At a few other occasions I had to climb over trees to be able to continue. To my joy, I can say that most parts are more or less alright again and I hope that I/we can continue our normal runs in a week or two at the latest.

I also want to take a moment to bring your attention to the Steem Running Project, for those of you who run regularly and want a new motivation or just look for likeminded people, please go to this page. I have already registered and I am accepted. This is also my first post under this project.

I want to leave you with some more pictures of the destruction I faced today. It's really sad to see these beautiful woods destroyed like this, on the other hand, that's nature and will always be part of nature.

Keep running and remember to have fun!

I'm about 1,83m, the diameter of those roots were higher than I am!

IMG_1183.JPG
So many uprooted trees!

IMG_1187.JPG
'My god, I just passed this!'

IMG_1191.JPG
Right, the old route is blocked, so I'll have to take the left fork ... I actually did go on that route in the end and only got stuck at that point, so I took the risk to climb over it.

IMG_1196.JPG
Yes, I went underneath it to continue ... don't try this at home!

IMG_1203.JPG
I got back to the point that I photographed 2 shots above from the other side and took this picture when I was right in the middle of it ...

IMG_1204.JPG
... and this one!

IMG_1209.JPG
... and yes, this one as well!

Love this! I am a trail and ultra runner and love seeing trail pictures. I will check out the @runningproject! I have been looking for runners here on Steemit!

Very good, welcome to the club! If you run regularly, you can still do the #fiftyrunstillmay challenge a well.

It's those days that you have to push yourself the most! If you're at 80%, give 100% of that 80%! ✊🏻

Absolutely, this is also why I kept looking for new paths and a way through the devestation.

Thanks for promoting the @runningproject !
Hope all runners will benefit soon for it!

Thank you as well!

i enjoy your post ^^! Thanks.

Thank you!

Sad to see fallen trees, but that's the cycle of nature and life... as always, beautiful scenery and nature around you! Congrats on your farthest run this year! :D

Thank you very much!

Man I gotta say- if I had a landscape like that to run in everyday, It would definitely motivate me. Those pictures are beautiful..seriously- beautifully dreadful, but beautiful...if you know what I mean.

I had not been aware of the Steem Running Project. I’m gonna Resteem this post and check it out for sure!

Thanks bud!Yeah I have posted pictures during runs in better (and worse) conditions, but never at its full beauty as I never stopped to make pictures back then. I will try to do so now, but obviously with all the devestation they won't be as nice as it used to be. Let's hope for the best. The landscape really motivates and it's nicer to run in forrests than on concrete pavements (I hate that!).

A little softer on your feet too-I would say! Mother Nature sure has its way of captivating us. What a great motivation to get out there and enjoy the world...while also getting in some good exercise!

I need to start running! Good post @wolfje

We all need to start somewhere. I never ran until 3 years ago. I did a blog about how I got into it, it's changed my life.

happy today for you!

Thanks and likewise!

good!.

Thanks!

Wind is an amazing force. At least there's no fire accompanying the wind, but that a California problem.
You're really dedicated to run in 0º weather, but be safe. There's always a chance of a down tree or branch shifting or falling.

Yes, nature has its ways and California is really bad also with its forrest fires.

Hope you still had a good run ... where are you from? where has this happened? ... it really is looking quite bad

It was a nice run, once I got into it. I live in Switzerland and this is part of a hurricane that hit mainland Europe 11 days ago.

with the unfortunate sir lest the biggest losses occur to the master. hopefully survived the tree and can be used as well as possible. success always lord. and your journey is safe to the destination

Thanks, well that's nature at it's purest. Sometimes it needs a bit of wind to clean everything up.
