I just finished a 2.777km run that lasted about 0hh:12mm:1ss !

My Fitbit Ionic decided to completely die on the weekend (7-8 months of having it) and having decided that quite frankly it was an awful device, and I'll never want to own a Fitbit ever again - I purchased the new Garmin Forerunner 245. This was my first run using it, and I'm absolutely in love - the Ionic shouldn't have even passed the first quality check, and the 245 really puts it to shame! (Side Note; that also means that I am no longer posting to Actifit until they introduce Garmin Connect uploads, although I am trying to get a 'sync platform' to work whereby the steps counted on my Garmin are automatically uploaded to Fitbit, but it's not as easy as it sounds!).
Just over 2 weeks since I ran the Southampton Marathon, and I'm still recovering. My last run was absolutely awful, and I was hobbling around for a couple of days after; but there was a little bit of improvement this time. I didn't go as far, but it felt a little easier and I managed some pretty nice paces even with the 20 degree evening heat. Today I feel relatively okay, and my mobility isn't too bad. I'm still unsure what exactly is wrong with my leg, but I'll give it another couple of weeks before I see a physio (or anything) - it feels like an ankle sprain at times, but then it doesn't at others, and there's tightness in both my calf and hamstring during running. Lots of foam rolling, stretching, and mobility exercises - as well as core workouts for injury prevention are required over the next couple of weeks. It's exam season, so it's actually been quite therapeutic doing so!
Currently my main concern is that I have a 10k road race at the end of June, and I'd really like to go for a sub-40 run, and I need to really get back into running ASAP yet need not rush into it so my injury goes away properly. Right now I probably wouldn't be able to run Parkrun, but I'll see how I feel on Friday Evening as to whether I think it's a good idea. An old Uni friend offered a while back to go on some rides with him, and considering some cross-training will probably do me some good, I might take him up on the offer.

And congrats on your new favorite toy. Garmin to Actifit integration? Definitely a YES! A must have.
Good luck.

There are no excuses for a consistent runner, you just have to adapt yourself to the conditions of your surroundings with the available resources.
