BI Governor Agus Martowardojo said, year to date until April 2018 point to point, the rupiah depreciated by 2.08%.

The rupiah depreciation is still better than the 5.4% Indian rupee, the Philippine peso is 4.25%, the Brazilian lira is 8.5%, and the Turkish lira is 12%.

At the same time, Thai baht and Malaysian ringgit appreciated 2.2% and 2.4% respectively.

According to Agus, the strengthening of ringgit and baht in the middle of weakening other currencies is influenced by surplus Malaysia and Thailand transactions.

However, it is a condition from the beginning of the year to April.

Agus said, the month to date and week to date, there are times when the ringgit and baht is weaker than the rupiah.
