Games from anime was very much a staple back in the 90s. When there is a new anime series, you can bet there will be a game for it on one of the console platforms.
Rurouni Kenshin is one of them, it has the intro cutscenes from the anime which has one of my favorite songs. The ending song is in this game as the ending credit rolls, which i think it got burned into my brain for the rest of my life.
You see in my day, Rurouni Kenshin was always on the TV on weekdays and have marathon runs on the weekends like its a compilation for the whole week of episodes. So it got repeated so much that i can instant recognize the music immediately.
This game was made by ZOOM inc, you know the same people who made Zero Divide series? So expect the typical weird moveset which i just spam as usual. The story only has you fight until Shinomori Aoshi as last opponent, so there isn't much story.
It's great that they added the anime cutscene filler to pad out the game. Anyway it's only for people who like Rurouni Kenshin and wants to have it in their collection type of game.
Your expectation of an anime game and cut it down by 75%, that is how much expectation you should have for any anime type games back in the day.
