The Insider has confirmed the death of hundreds of Russian Wagner prisoner recruits in Ukraine. Wagner has been suffering severe losses throughout the war, and turned to recruiting prisoners in recent months. Wagner is a Russian mercenary group that has engaged in war crimes throughout the globe. Many of its members are Neo-Nazis.
Remember, that many of these convicts have an otherwise bleak chance at a life of opportunity even if they are eventually released back into society. By all measures, the offers from Wagner are off the back of knowledge that it is very likely their headcount and thus money spent on retaining these private recruits will be low because of the high attrition rates.
It's also curious that in the last couple of days, the reported losses on the Russian side have gone up a certain degree, hitting a daily high of 950 just the other day.
Thus, by mid-October, the PMC informed relatives of the deaths of 458 convicts. At the same time, according to the Important Stories’ estimates, Prigozhin’s PMC had recruited nearly 6,000 prisoners by the end of September, and at least 2,036 of them had been transported by that time. It means that by October, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had eliminated about a quarter of the Russian criminals who made it to the front."
