Russia is a super power that rose up by itself as they claim they are strong as one. One of most recegnizeble russian icons is you guessed it! Vladimir Putin. Vladimir Putin may look as a ordenary man but for someone to start being a spy from and today to shape russia as it is. It's amazing, but to understand how one man can have such an powerful influence on this country, we need to go back to chaos and curroption that griped Russia after ''The fall of Soviet Union''. 1989: When Berlin wall fell putin was working as undecover spy wroking for USSR inteligence (KGP). 1991: The Soviet Union desolved into 15 new contries, including the New Russian Federation. in Putin's eyes Russia had lost over 2 million sqare miles of territory. He later called this a ''Major geopolitical disaster of the century''. Lementing that tens of millions of his co-patriots found themselfs outside Russian territory. New goverment had to sell off nearly 45.000 public businesses like energy, mining and communication companies that had beed run by communist regime. And it was chaos. At the same time Russian state was having a hard time establishing itself. Russian's first president Boris Yeltsin was wildly unpopular cooperating with the west. And to make matters worse he was an alcoholic and many of the russians thought he was an emberressment. In the order to stay in power, he leaned on support of these oligarchs, surrendering in immense amount of political power to them. And inequality really worsend after the fall of Soviet Union. And then...Vladimir Putin enters politics. He left the KGB in 1991 and becomes the deputy mayor of St. Petersburg. Putin uses his position to give special treatment to friends and allies in the private sector. He helps them structure monopolies and regulates their competetors, quickly becoming a favourite among the oligarchs. Before long he's assembled a support network of oligarchs, crime bosses, and security officials, mostly fellow former KGB officers like he was. (The end of part 1)
