ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΠΟΛΛΑ.png

Continuing with my 2 drachmai coins, this is another one from the Regime of the Colonels period, 1967-1974. Just like the 1 drachma coin of the same year, the 2 drachmai has the symbol of goddess Athena, the owl, and the picture of the Phoenix rising from its flames, symbol of the Regime.
Fun Fact: The owl was first depicted on an ancient Greek tetradrachm (5th century B.C.).

The coin

Oh yes, just like all the others, this is also a standard circulation coin from the Third Modern Drachma coin period and it circulated in the year of 1973. It is made of nickel brass, weighs 6.1 gr, has a diameter of 24 mm and a thickness of 1.90 mm.
