From the flower of life, you can pull the feminine counterpart to this symbol known as the Fruit of Life. The Fruit of Life is the 13 circles without the masculine straight lines. In the images below, you can see that Metatron's Cube is constructed simply by connecting the centers of each circle. It's interesting that we see the number 13 which has been demonized in today's society. We can also see that 13 is 12 around 1. Symbolic of 12 disciples around a master or guru.
The idea of a hyperdimensional object can seem baffling at first, but interestingly enough the key to the next dimensions are even visible within the 2D representation. In this symbol, there sits a cube within a cube also called a hypercube. A hypercube is the key to stepping up the dimensional scale.
2D = Square
3D = Cube
4D = Hypercube
