Repair Cafe GBG #2 | The appliances cable that should never have been made!

In the last post I wrote that we get some odd stuff to repair sometimes and when we got in this cable attached to a coffee machine. We just replaced it because this cable is the essence of electrical security that was just made horrible wrong all the way from the production line, what were they thinking? That thin cable can't handle the power of a coffee machine, it gets warm and can turn into a fire at any moment! Normally we find people making cables like this by hand due to ignorance how the earth pin works, but this is made in a factory so there must be thousands of them out there...

This is how the cable normally look like in most of EU, UK, China, India, Thailand & US:
40x40
EU UK
ChinaIndia
Thailand US

40x40
3 pins on each side of the cable, never ever 2 on the other side
or you may get electrocuted to death!

I think you give too much credit to the CE marking, but I will double check!

I did a little bit of digging into CE marking..

CE_confusing

EU discovered it in 2007:

And this is bag is a good one on how it's misused:

Furthermore as a friend put it:
China Export is a myth.
The CE-marking is the producers responsibility to apply to products that is going to be sold inside EU. It's also their responsibility to make sure and proof that the product is qualified for the marking.
The logotype is free to use for everyone who is qualified, including non European companies.

Ohhh! This is so good to know! You are obviously quite right in stating that it is not to be trusted blindly. This is the second thing I learned today. The first is that walls can shrink! In the process of renovating the kitchen after a water damage. Thought I had everything under control until the carpenters said "we have a problem" when there suddenly was not enough space to hang the last cabinet... Next time I will measure, and measure again! A couple of times!
