Gretchen-Snow.jpg With there being no school today, alot of kids are already up and anticipating going out and playing in that beautiful snow!! Here are a few tip's and safe activities in which they may enjoy doing. #1 would and should be safety first. Find a place for them to run and play, sled or ice skate which is a distance away from snow trucks, streets, vehicles, hills or high trafic area's. We all know that with icy conditions drivers cannot alway's have full control or cannot some spot those little guy's with everything that is going on.

#2. Make sure they are well bundled up with multiple layers of clothing, hat's, gloves, ear muff's, thermals, thick socks, boot's etc.... No room for error to have a sick child in this fridget weather. Try to Only let them stay outside in 2 hr intervales, maybe give them hot cocoa breaks or go in and do some indoor activities every now and then to help them warm up a bit to prevent being frost bitten.
#3. Alway's make sure there is a parent or guardian present while they play outdoors to add some guidance. Someone eventually will have to break up some snow ball fights gone wrong lol or keep count of all kids whereabouts, give extra instructions on safe areas to play in or make sure they are not engaging in risk behavior such as walking on thin ice, again playing near streets or bury and bury kids from underneath snow!

  1. Some great activities we used to do as children were building snowmen, making snow angels, sledding, go to ice skating rinks or parks, having snow ball fights, maybe even going skiing at your local resort. If staying indoors movies with hot cocoa, board games, building tents in the living room, drawing or coloring (arts) projects. Invite a few friends over and have a pizza sleepover party etc...
