hallo friend steemit all back again with me with the news that i update today. Today I will explain a bit about the definition and function of GMDSS on board. well we just discussed about the GMDSS.
GMDSS is an internationally agreed safety package consisting of safety procedures, equipment types, communication protocols used to improve safety and make it easier to save ships, boats, or aircraft in an accident.

GMDSS consists of several systems, some of which are new but most of the equipment has been applied for years. The system functions to: be alert (including monitoring the positions of accidental units), coordinate Search and Rescue, locate (evacuate victims to return to the mainland), broadcast maritime information on safety, public communications, and ship communication. Specific communication radios are required in accordance with the vessel operating area, not on the basis of the tonnage of the vessel. The system also consists of repeating signal transmitting equipment as an alarm signal, as well as having a power source to perform its functions

Ships serving as recreational facilities do not require equipment compatible with GMDSS radios, but it is advisable to use VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) Radio, as well as for offshore systems in the near future to use the equipment. br>

Ships under 300 GT are not included in regulations that require the use of GMDSS. Ships that have deadweight between 300-500 GT are advised but are not required to use GMDSS, but ships over 500 GT are required to use equipment that supports GMDSS.
