Champagne Sailing with Fleetwood Mac

in sailiing •  7 years ago  (edited)

There's a sweet spot aboard my boat SV Tout Va Bien. It find the sweet spot when the motors off, the sails are trimmed and she just sails herself. This is a video of one such moment captured on my iphone - audio sample is Albatross by Fleetwood Mac. One day I hope to sail along side an albatross, but for now Fleetwood Mac's audible version will have to do. I hope you enjoy the video!

nothing better than everything working and easy sailing! and they say the two best days in a boat owner's life are when you buy a boat and when you sell it. I have been aching to get on the water but winter dragged on, maybe tomorrow.

I've heard that saying a lot. Right now the thought of selling her doesn't appeal to me on bit. Kind of makes my heart heavy - I can appreciate the sentiment behind it though! Hope you get out on the water soon - every day on the water is a good day :)

The winter time is perfect for sailing :-)

Well. Frozen ropes aren't much fun. I do enjoy breaking ice, but my wooden boat doesn't. Icing is a risk when it's really cold and windy, luckily I've never experienced any serious icing. And a slippery deck can be hazardous as well. The darkness can also be a challenge. Hm. But I still enjoy sailing in the winter.

We spent our yule/new year holiday sailing from Oslo to Gothenburg and back again some years again. Best christmas ever. Or so do I believe. I don't know if the rest of the family agrees though, at least I got a veto every time I suggested doing it again.

Wow! That sounds like a pretty special and memorable way to spend the holidays. I will admit I haven't had to deal with frozen ropes while underway (yet). Sounds like you truley love sailing in all the ways the weather can go. Inspirational for sure!!

probably best to wait for the water to thaw ;)
