Almost Paradise

in sailing •  7 years ago

Not so long ago I was anchored off Low Bay on the west coast of Barbuda. Many have looked at this image and said, "Wow!" And in one way it is.

It's almost the perfect beach, the ideal anchorage. The pristine, deserted sand stretches for more than three miles to the north, and it's a rare day when you'll see even one other person. I've been fortunate enough to spend many happy times there, and have the place to myself for days on end.

It's good for the soul, a little piece of paradise free of internet, TV, or gizmos of any kind. Just crystal clear water, pink-tinged sand, and perfect solitude.

hi, are you a sailor?

For many years, and although my body is now landlocked, my soul is still at sea.
You?

im a newbie (and a total gung ho), about a year in... but im no stranger to the marine world as i been working on boats and also around the marine industry for years... im also land bound for now... although i do participate in local regattas whenever possible. cant wait to have my own sailboat.

I'm glad i found you, im looking for sailors on steemit to start a group of people that like to post about sailing and their experiences... its a group for sailors by sailors.
Im working on it now and will let you know when its ready to launch. would be great to have you join.

Sounds great. I look forward to seeing your new group when it's ready.

Hi @hardboiled-noir, this is a post on behalf of @ankapolo, the group i told you about is now launched. Please use the hashtag #knot, and your future post will be automatically resteemed for other sailors to see. Also the group is going to have a SteemPower delegation, which will allow @knot to give better upvotes on all sailing related content. Please follow and stay tuned.

It is a nice beach.
Noticed in the port captain's office a statement about needing special permission to visit since the hurricane.
Are you in the area now?
Nice to meet you @hardboiled-noir.
