Sail With Me On The Bras D'Or Lakes - Part 4 - The Week Long Trip Day 1 and 2

in sailing •  6 years ago

It's been 9 days since I posted last about my sailing adventures around Cape Breton Island. I haven't had a chance really since then to post because there has been no cell phone reception to many of the places we have been traveling.

We also made the two day trip back home and, unfortunately, I had my first day back at work today.

We took the last week of vacation and just sailed down as far as we could through the Bras D'Or lakes. Aside from hanging out on various beaches, I probably spent a total of 2 hours off the boat over a 7 day period. I'm surprised how far we actually made it, even taking a day in the middle to chill out while a bunch of rain passed through.

Day 1

Bras D'Or to Island Point

The initial plan was to leave the next day, but we were pretty flexible and decided to head out a day early. Doing so caused us to get going pretty late, but it was worth it in the end. We sailed up as far as we could before it was getting too dark and we decided to hit the motor for a while to our destination at Island Point and cook some supper.

Can you tell where we turned the motor on?

Day 2

Island Point to Badeck

The next day was good and I took a little row around the small cove we were in to get some pictures of the boat. I ended up catching a few eagles on some video while going around the cove, but I'll be saving the video's for future posts so I can edit them.

It was in Badeck we ended up deciding to stick around for an extra day. Aside from the weather being quite miserable the next day, we needed to pick my brother up on the second day and Badeck was the easiest place to do it. We could also restock on fuel, water, beer, and food as well so it made sense to stick around there and wait.

Stay tuned for day 3 and 4.
