FATHER, GIVE ME THE GRACE TO BECOME A SAINT

Key Scripture:
To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his Saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:7).

THOUGHTS

It is difficult to accept that we are either saints or will become saints because somehow we think we have to become perfect. We cannot become perfect on earth, but we can keep struggling towards perfection. A saint is a person who has been redeemed by the blood of Jesus and is making sincere and serious effort to follow Jesus. There is this misconception that only the dead can be referred to as saints but scripture is replete with passages in which the living were addressed as saints. Our opening passage is one example. It takes the power of God to make one a saint. So, no one would need to boast about anything they feel they acquired in their spiritual walk with God. In the same vein, if you are struggling with holiness, just abandon yourself to God and his word; He has the ability to make you better. No matter how bad you are, by God's grace, you can still be a holy person.
