Get good at selling.

What is selling?

It's serving.

It's finding a need and filling it.

It's problem-solving.

My sales mentor, Steve Clark, taught me there are only two reasons people don't do business with you:

1. They haven't heard of you.
2. They have heard of you.

If you suffer from #1, here's what you do:

First, get clear on WHO. Define your market.

"Oh, Wes, we sell to EVERYONE!" NO. YOU. DON'T!

While everyone on the planet breathes air and drinks water, not everyone will pay for fragranced air and bottled water.

So choose who to lose.

You can't be all things to all people all the time.

And you can't be an expert at all marketing mediums overnight.

So get clear on your message first. It does you no good to spread a weak message far and wide.

You're MUCH better offer delivering a powerful message to just a handful of people. The message will resonate with them and if they are right they will buy and if they are not right they know someone who is and they'll take the message to them and they'll buy.

Now get clear on WHAT. What is it you do? What problem do you solve? Why are you my best choice, including doing nothing?

Finally, get the right technology.
