The salvation in the gospels: It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell

Our Lord Jesus in his teachings tells us that we must seek the spiritual goods, like mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness), righteousness and the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion), before anything else, because these goods are the most important thing that we must have as persons.
In the Gospel of Saint Matthew, a rich man approached Jesus and asked him how to inherit the eternal life, and Jesus answered that he had to keep the commandments, and this man told him that he had always kept them, then Jesus told him something else: "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven" Matthew 19:21.
The gospel tells us the response of the rich man: "When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth" Matthew 9:22.
The love of riches and the unbridled search for bodily pleasures such as gluttony and lust are an impediment to spiritual growth, and ultimately to achieve spiritual salvation, the fullness of the spiritual goods in man, the gospels tell us.
Jesus presented us with the spiritual search of man in a new way: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" Matthew 6:33. We should not look for apparent goods by themselves, because they are the result of a life in the grace of God.
But this truth, Jesus taught it with a stern warning: "And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell" Mark 9:45-47.
God gave us freedom, and it is up to us to choose the path.
