Has it been a decade? I said that in 2020 as the date of my high school reunion was approaching. It was something I planned on missing. I had good reasons too, I just didn't see how it wouldn't be awkward. These events are designed for people to be nosy and engage in all sorts of theatrics that I would find annoying.
My best bro, Huy, as the valedictorian was the one that was responsible for the setup. From conditions set 10 years ago... Huy was avoiding it more than me. High school didn't seem important to either of us. If anything we want to just have a small gathering with some smokin' nerds.
Then something spectacular happened; a pandemic. All the excuses one needs. The best part, there will be no rescheduling. Haha, catch us if you can suckers.
2021
Another 10-year date looming. This one isn't pre-conditioned but based on the past year there has been growing enthusiasm to get together.
I joined a great organization, made some great friends. But with this particular chapter, you end up going on random rides. Maybe 1/5 was Jewish, more than half spoke Spanish, and a quarter came from abroad.
Should I stay or should I go? My extroversion is limited. I rather smoke and pass out. I'll have some fun, but I also know sensory overload will take me out early. Way early. The issue is when trips develop within the trips I short-circuit fast man. Yeah, I cry about going home. Yeah, I'll get belligerent about it. JUST STICK TO THE FUCKING SCHEDULE. Look, I'm already practicing.
Peer pressure will probably win this round. People are starting to think I hate them.
Some of them are right.
