WHY DO THEY SAY A CAT HAS NINE LIVES?

After hearing that a cat has NINE LIVES, I went to my neighbor's house to carry out some experiments.

I took her beautiful cat (Cherry) and killed it in front of her telling her telling that a cat has nine lives it will come back to life.

My people, since morning I dey wait for the cat to come back to life using the other 8 remaining lives but nothing don happen and my neighbor face don turn Red!

Pls what should I do?
Will the cat come back to life?
Is the story of cats with nine lives true?
Help me Pls!!!
