Samsung today unveiled an application that promises to squeeze data received over the internet from the smartphone and save the user's data plan. Called Samsung Max, it is only available for the Galaxy smartphone line.
Although it was only available this Friday, the app is nothing new: it arrives to replace Opera Max, an app originally launched in 2014 by the browser of the same name also with the proposal to save data. In late 2017, it was discontinued and stopped receiving updates until it was purchased by Samsung.

It can save data by creating a Virtual Private Network (VPN) on the mobile phone connection to compress the photos, music, and videos that will be accessed using the data plan. In addition to these file types, it also allows users to restrict the use of data in some smartphone applications, preventing them from exceeding the established limit.

According to Seounghoon Oh, vice president of the Samsung R & D Institute in China, where the app was developed, with the application all users will have "greater control and autonomy over their use of data and privacy in an era of security threats and fraudulent applications. "

Samsung Max is now available for download from the Play Store in Brazil and other countries. Galaxy users who already have Opera Max will be able to upgrade it in the coming days.
