Chaim & Oskar's Kidney Transplant Fund

I'm Chaim Harrell. I am a multi-talented actor, hip-hop dance choreographer, and worldly creator. I do a lot of community work with inner city youth. I also bring awareness to kidney failure/kidney disease and hypertension and its connection to the both through a campaign titled #iAmUndefeated. I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease on February 14th, 2014 at the age of 28. Chronic kidney disease, also called chronic kidney failure, describes the gradual loss of kidney function. Your kidneys filter wastes and excess fluids from your blood, which are then excreted in your urine. When chronic kidney disease reaches an advanced stage, dangerous levels of fluid, electrolytes and wastes can build up in your body. African Americans are three times more likely to experience kidney failure.I am always determined to stay happy and encouraging to others even through my ailment. And I love my man Oskar! He is a multi-media fine artist, musician, model and aspiring actor. After My kidney functions dipped below fifteen percent in early 2017, my name was placed on the National Kidney Transplant list. This list has an average wait time of six to eight years or even ten years. In an effort to help me in any way he could, Oskar decided to go through the extensive evaluation process of being a kidney donor. Turns out he's a perfect match! The Transplant will take place in late August 2017 at University of California, San Francisco. That's where you come in. While the actual cost of the kidney transplant itself would be covered, we would need at least three months of financial assistance to cover regular expenses as neither of us will be able to work during our recovery.
