A few years ago I decided that my hobby would be trying banh mis from all around Brisbane and then write a blog and rate them. I had so much fun doing this that I am considering making it a thing again. Here is one of the first posts I wrote. I'm hungry just thinking about this sandwich!
"I had heard so much about Kim Thanh bakery in West End and how good it was that I just had to go see for myself. The best part is that it is open 7 days a week! I had the Grilled Pork Banh Mi but made the rookie mistake of waiting till I got home to eat it so it wasn’t as warm and crispy as I would have liked. The flavour was amazing! Service was super quick (though really who else is buying a banh mi at 9:30am on a Sunday morning…) and it was also only $6. I think if I had eaten it straight away I may have fainted with happiness. They didn’t pickle their vegetables but they did add the fresh chilli thank god. My only issue with this Banh Mi was the amount of fat I found in it. I probably only noticed it as I sat down at home to eat it and inspected it more thoroughly than what normal people would but it was a serious amount of fat. A little too gross for me, I had to pull it out before I could finish eating it. Apart from that I loved this Banh Mi! It was super filling and tasted very similar to what you’d find in Viet.
