What Sankofa Competition is About:

SANKOFA is an Adinkra symbol that translates to "go back and get it." And that, in addition to harnessing and rewarding the creativity of Africans on Steemit, is what this series of contests will strive to achieve.

African Folktales are an oral tradition of entertainment, carrying forward of history, and impartation of morals and lessons. Unfortunately in our bid to be "westernised" we have largely ignored this component of our heritage. This competition seeks to do its bit to salvage that.

Who Can Enter and on What Terms?
Anyone with an African narrative that fits the specification for the week. Posts must be rendered with an original and unique twist, not just a copy and paste of a known tale or proverb or whatsoever folk piece.

We will focus on African proverbs for now.

The rules are simple to follow:

☑ Share a proverb in a native African language. Tell us its translation and application. Be creative. If you haven't entered before we invite you to explore previous entries for inspiration.

☑ Resteem and upvote this post as soon as you see it. It's okay to resteem while you make up your mind to enter.

☑ Only original works are accepted.

☑ Be sure to use the #sankofacomp tag on your entry post.

☑ Use "Sankofa Creative Competition #5" as part of your post title. Not necessarily in a way that obstructs the catchiness of your title.

☑ Entry submission closes 2pm (CAT) on Sunday.

a. Entries will be submitted as comments on this post.

b. Judging will factor in the amount of votes your entry comment gets. We advice you attach a little blurb with your link to attract people to open, read and decide if to vote for you. One person can only vote upto two entries that aren't theirs.

c. Prize pool is guaranteed 20 SBD. 15 SBD for the best entry according to the reviewers, and 5 SBD for the popular choice decided by votes. 5 SBD shared among EVERYONE else who enters.
