Bienvenidos amigos de Hive.La basílica fue construida en el año 1668, sólo era una pequeña y humilde choza pero recibía a la feligresía católica, hasta que después decidieron ampliarla modificándose en Iglesia la cual pusieron como nombre San Juan de Dios esto fue en el año 1686, poco a poco se transformaba una linda Iglesia la cual iba creciendo.
The basilica was built in the year 1668, it was only a small and humble hut but it received the catholic parishioners, until later they decided to enlarge it, modifying it into a church which they named San Juan de Dios in the year 1686, little by little it was transformed into a beautiful church which was growing.
Justo en el año 1808, la iglesia que sólo tenía una sola torre se transformo en dos, y decidieron modificar el nombre el cual pusieron San Juan de Dios y Chiquinquirá, se logra en 1917 fomentar para que se logré la coronación canónica a la Virgen de Chiquinquirá, por lo que se le hizo el llamado a la Santa cede del vaticano, por lo que el mismo le confirió como nombre basílica menor a este templo.
