Local House Cat Sentenced to A Year In Prison

It appears that some of us feel an ardent attraction in taking the possessions of others, without asking first. A small neighborhood of San Mateo, California, was terrorized by a thief for three long years. Nearly all residents of the community noticed things were missing from their homes, although their houses showed no signs of forced entry.

Local authorities were called on multiple occasions, but they didn't manage to find the skilled thief that was collecting belongings from everyone, since, apparently, it left no traces behind. Such skills would make any thief jealous.

The truth came to the surface when a resident installed security cameras. Dusty, a slick, nimble, and stealthy feline was caught red-handed. A four-year-old house cat was the perpetrator that had the entire neighborhood in fear. For three years, the cat stole various items from people’s homes, over 600 items, to be more precise. What did the kleptomaniac cat prefer? Shoes, gloves, stuffed animals, and designer bathing suits were some of its staple items.

Dusty’s neighbors knew the cat very well, but they never imagined that the fur ball was capable of doing something like this. Now, they all keep their belongings locked and secured inside the house, to keep any temptations away from the kleptomaniac cat, as they called it.

Still, we can’t help wondering why the police didn’t have the idea of mounting several cameras in the neighborhood, especially in the hotspot areas, where the burglaries happened, to see what was going on.

The cat showed no remorse in court and was sentenced to a year in prison after it stole the judge's gavel.
