Who created Bitcoin in 2009? We may never know. And apparently people will try to step forward into the vacuum. What a great marketing ploy! Whoever Satoshi Nakamoto is, if he holds 1 million bitcoin, an estimate made by bitcoin developer Sergio Lerner, his net worth in bitcoins would $2.5 billion at today's prices.

Following is a chart created by Sergio Demian Lerner.

Craig Wright, founder of NChain, claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto. Wright is an Australian entrepreneur said as much at a recent Future of Bitcoin conference.  However, Wright was iimmediately labeled a "charlatan" by Wladimir van der Laan who is in a position to know, presumably. van der Laan maintains the Bitcoin Core. According to van der Laan, Wright could prove he is  Satoshi Nakamoto if he would reveal to Laan one of his private keys.

The creator(s) of Bitcoin is/are maybe not (just) one person, but more.
There could be a whole foundation behind the Bitcoin!
Just see what "Satoshi Nakamoto" really means!
“Satoshi” means "clear thinking, quick witted; wise". “Naka” can mean “medium, inside, or relationship”. “Moto” can mean “origin”, or “foundation”.

But yes. As you wrote in this blog post: "We may never know."

Interesting.

Musk obviously has the talent to have created bitcoin and it would make sense that he wanted to remain anonymous. Maybe he had a "no compete" agreement with PayPal. Who knows. I know this is speculative, but it's interesting to think about. If he is the creator of bitcoin and he does have 1 million bitcoin and bitcoin goes to $1,000,000 that would be $1,000,000,000,000 (1$ trillion). That would be enough to fund a Mars Colony!
