How We Spent $25 at Goodwill

Good afternoon, Steemians!

Well, @roxanad18 and I just got back from Goodwill. I had about four shirts I was going to donate that I don't really ever wear anymore and so we usually go inside to look at "new" old stuff lol.

It's like going back in time!

I usually buy all my shirts at Goodwill for $2-4 each, and sometimes other clothes as well (never underwear, eww!) and hardly ever pants. I'm not cheap but I do like to save my money for silver.😉

Nice place to sit if you're waiting for loved ones to hurry up and try their clothes on (lol not the case today)

I always go to the mug section to try to find the most ridiculous ones - the pig takes the cake today - nice teets!

Is Goodwill trying to tell me something?

I thought of both @salivatemetal and @goldenarms when I saw this, well, because they both have kitties

LOLOLOLOL

This aisle looks dangerous

Plastic fruit - yep, we've gone back in time...

Hat I did not buy

I know, it's killing you all.. You want to know what we actually purchased that totaled $25... Ok here goes.

Nice colander that's got smaller holes than the one we currently have - it's also better quality. I also got two nice collared short sleeve shirts.

@roxanad18 got two shirt/blouses and I got a pair of pj bottoms which I will use in the mornings so the mosquitoes don't get my ankles!

Roxana got a nice little dress to wear at my cousin's wedding in October

So, we got

-4 shirts
-1 pair pj bottoms
-1 dress
-1 colander

All of this cost less than $25. It would all easily be $100 if it were all brand new, probably more.

Do you guys shop thriftfully? Let us know!

Thanks for stopping by!

I thrift shop but I try to avoid goodwill because of their practices. They exploit those with special needs that they hire paying them pennies for every hour worked. So I tend to shop at the thrift stores that are ran by churches and connected to homeless shelters and services. Though occasionally someone I am with will want to go in there and I always end up finding something I want when I go in there. So that is the only time I buy anything from there.

Yeah back up north I used to go to the Salvation Army, but I don't think we have that nearby.

YES!!! I love this post!! I look forward to my "50% off Sundays" at my local Goodwill! I have repeatedly scored barely worn Levi's for under $5. And it's the place to go, for the kid who has some whacky Halloween costume ideas (mine).

Ha! That's awesome! I never find good pants at mine. They're always like a size 29 waist or like 44 lol

Also....you didn't buy the hat? (sad emoji)

Haha no. Sorry to disappoint.

Not many thrift shops round here. I do wish there were more ... People just prefer new to secon-hand (if you are not into brands, clothes here are quite cheap). I usually clean out my wardrobe once a year. Whatever is still good I just split between my friends or drop in the humana containers. Whatever is worn out I just recycle.

I used to shop there all the time, I loved buying the vintage old school blazers and suit jackets I used to wear them at my old job all the time. And only 12-24$ usually.

You made a mistake with the hat maybe. You could be a style icon!

I only get used clothes if I can. It's one thing I do not like to spend money on. Also - there are all kinds of chemicals sprayed on the new ones now. It's a strategy in my "healthy living" groups to never buy new clothes since you have to wash about 20 times to get all that junk out of them. So you buy used and someone else suffered for you! Now when I get new clothes I wash them a few times first before wearing. What a world.

My son would love the collared shirts you got. He's a thrift store shopper as well.

Upvoted and resteemed so maybe more thrifty people will find you :)

Haha! I'm glad there are more of us out there! :) My brother is the same way as I am too, only he gets into the weirder stuff lol

Are you saying I'm not weird? I do my best!

Oh, exactly. The "offgassing" from new garments is nauseating. I'd spend an entire day trying to walk away from myself, sporting a new pair of jeans, because of the weird toxic chemical smell that wouldn't go away until after about a dozen washes....
That...somehow came out wrong....
But I think you know what I mean...

I love thrifting! Great deals!
