Manchester City wins Community Shield | Accessing Players for FPL

Sergio Aguero scored twice as Manchester City defeated Chelsea to win the community shield. Aguero scored the first goal at the 13th minute which happens to be his 200th goal for the City. He scored his second goal at the 58th to secure victory for City and it means City start the season with the silverware.

From the FPL perspective, this match gave some hint to build up your fantasy team for GW 1 but still there remains many questions and confusion. City started with one man up front as Sergio Aguero(11M) lead the line and was the best player today. He got the two goals and should easily get many managers before the start of GW1. His ownership is increasing rapidly which is at 19% at the time of writing, which was at 13% before the start of this match. He should start GW 1 for City against Arsenal but you can't deny substitution risk as Jesus(10.5M) got some minutes today. He may not get more minutes in their first game, but would certainly take Aguero's minutes after that. Looking into last season, Pep favored Jesus more than Aguero. The only way, both of these strikers would start for City is if Pep decides to play 3-5-2, and it needs to be accessed. These two players played around 15 minutes together today.

Bernando Silva(7.5M) and Phil Foden(5M) had an impressive game and got an assist each. They might start a couple of GW in the absence of Sterling and De Buryne, and are going to be the cheapest route to City's attack for the short term. New signing Mahrez(9M) had a good game from the right flank and was on set piece in absence of de Buryne. There is bad news for the one who owns Sane(9.0M), the third most owned midfielder. Sane missed the World Cup for Germany and also missed most of the preseason games as he was not in good form. He had a bad game today and was substituted in 45 minutes after getting the knock. Bravo started at the goal and would be replaced by Ederson(5.5M) when the Premier League starts. Mendy, Laporte, Stones, and Walker started at the back four and Otamendi and Kompany had a short introduction at the end. Only Ederson is a regular starter, and almost all City backline player's is prone to the rotation. I believe Walker and Laporte look certain to start at the City's back in GW1 but you never know.

On the other end, Chelsea started the game with 4-3-3 and their payers were largely anonymous. They just had one shot on target. It is still not clear who will start in front 3 of Chelsea. Morata(9M), Pedro(6.5M), and youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi(4.5M) started today in front 3 and couldn't impress at all. Willian(7.5M) who has 7% ownership got around 30 minutes which should be a good sign for the managers who own him but be aware that he might leave Chelsea.

Alonso(6.5M) and Azpilicueta(6.5M) started as a fullback which will hurt their fantasy prospect, as it restricts their license to go forward. Today, they were mostly deep down and less contribution to Chelsea attack from the wing. David Luiz(5.5M) didn't have a good game but should be the cheapest defender to start against struggling Huddersfield town. He started most of the matches in preseasons. Caballero started in the goal, and he was the best player for the Blues today. With the rumors of Courtois exit and Chelsea's eye on other keepers, Caballero doesn't look safe.
