I am sure you have all noticed the drop in price for Both SBD and Steem. Today they both are very close to the $1.00 mark and I think its likely we see it below a $1.00 sometime today or next day or two. The question is, If that $1.00 wall breaks how far will the price drop ?
Steemit has the right ingredients to be a major player in the media outlet world but needs that giant push to get out to the masses and I believe that giant push is aggressive marketing. A commercial or two letting consumers know that Steemit is uncensored and creates you money while passively aggressively pointing out the flaws of traditional media sites ( I believe ) will create an influx of new Steemit members and investors. A few billboards wouldn't hurt either.
It would also be nice to see a Favorite Followers option along side the followers option we already have. Some accounts on here are big with thousands of followers and follow thousands back for different reasons. As is, our Feed is almost worthless to anyone who decides to follow a couple hundred people or more. If we had a favorite followers feed we could put those blogs we want to visit more often then some others in it and make life here on Steemit much easier.
Along with the price drop I have noticed the SBD amount in our Post payout shrinking drastically. Today it not only shrunk but it has gone to zero ... nodda .. nothing. Has the payout structure changed ? Are we seeing the removal of SBD payment ? My 10 second search has revealed no answers.
I think the removal of SBD will be beneficial to Steemit and user retention. Currently Steemit wallet has SBD / SP / VP / Steem and USD in its wallet. That is allot for the average social media user to take in. The system needs to be more simplified and if possible SBD needs to be removed and just use Steem for everything.
I hear that a lot of people are not happy with the fact that owners of huge amounts of Steem get so many rewards compared to people with only a little bit of Steem.

Its a double edged sword. Those who invested deserve rewards for their early risks but at the same time having most the rewards going to such a small percent of members isn't good for user retention / site growth. Personally I think a max upvote value is needed to better balance the spread of rewards.

Yeah, and people starting out on Steemit, even without money, should have better opportunities to make a bit more Steem by blogging etc, being active on the platform in general.

I don't see how removing SBD makes it harder to power up. We power up with Steem. If we have SBD we first need to change it to Steem in order to power up with it. No SBD means the need to change SBD to Steem will no longer take place. Your second sentence is a perfect example of a step in the process of powering up that isn't needed. Simplifying things is the best option for mass adaption imo.

The system is too complex for a new user and those ready to join are denied, two of my fb friends were stucked at registration having prob with email verification and the mobile OTP were not sent, after a few try they are asked to try again the next day and this has been going on for over 2weeks now

It's always baffled me why I can't power up SBD in to steem power like you can with steem. I think it's daft really to have to sell your SBD for steem, then power up. Surely a bit of code could be written to work out that correct conversation rate allowing you to go straight from SBD to SP.

I will say you might have a point about the SBD removal because my account is set on a 50/50 but at post payouts virtually most is converted to SP and Steem. The SBD part is very minimal, so will not hurt at all if we just dealt with SP and steem.

Due to the decrease in the marketcap of steem the system there was far too many SBD printed and the debt ration has to stay at a certain level. I think its 1:5 or something like that
For now you'll have to enjoy more SP which i'm not too concerned about, at this point i need more steem power

I get what you're saying and who knows maybe the will do away with it in the front end but keep its use in the back end and provide a more simplistic version for users. This is still very much a beta and we are the test dummies for it.
I still feel that regardless of mass adoption steemit will always be an exclusionary platform by nature that is run by subsets of communities and not just a mass free for all like we see with traditional free scale based platforms.

Seems like I made the right decision to get paid in SP a few weeks ago. When seeing the exchange rate of SBD compared to Steem I thought I would be better off getting paid in SP. Now the advantage has been eliminated considering the ER of both currencies.
