Do the Ends Justify the MeanssteemCreated with Sketch.

(please forgive errors with grammar, my English is good but sometimes I can make some mistakes with tenses and other formalities).

Why can some people break the rules but others get brutal enforcement of "rules" ?

For instance , I see quite frequently people got in trouble for copy and pasting the same article and information in multiple posts. And @steemflagrewards enforces this but then looks the other way for other popular people.

What do you think @justineh ? You seem like you stand up for what is right even if not popular position?

Why can Mr. Potatohead keep posting the same post and be on the trending page all the time but others would get flagged to nothing for doing the same thing. And also , that is not even enough for them but they also then have people vote additional comments in the post. This seems to be abuse. Or is it ok for everyone to do this?

but but but.... they are posting this to fix the SBD value so I guess the ends justify the means? Why this needs to be fixed in this manner? What the hell is going on with the SBD that we need Mr. potatohead posts all the time in trending. Why not fix the SBD another way like changing the problems from the source?

Also, same thing for all these burn posts in trending.

Why not vote the small accounts and keep interest for small minnows instead of playing hungry hungry hippo with all the rewards with Potatohead posts and burn posts. Use the votes to spread them to new users. Yeah, they all say that all the rewards go to fixing STEEM but they are all still benefiting in certain ways by circle jerking curation rewards and advertising their other projects which will then benefit them like steemvoter that uses your account to vote if you use their service.

So either the ends justify the means and there's a double standard or everyone follows the "rules". Everyone sees the big and popular accounts doing these activities so they imitate them but the small accounts get flagged and then get confused frustrated and leave while the big accounts get away with breaking the rules. They need to lead by example. It's confusing for new users to see this on trending and also anyone looking at STEEM and considering investing they will wonder what is wrong with STEEM because most of the trending posts are about fixing SBD and Burning STEEM.

These posts are all very similar and seem to be autogenerated with no effort and are very over rewarded. Again, I understand their intent is to help STEEM but these are forced actions and the only way to improve STEEM is with organic interaction and not force and manipulate the economics of STEEM.

I have been thinking about all these things the last couple of days because I have been flagged a lot by some trolls but also because I was blacklisted. I did nothing wrong but was hacked in steemengine by fiftysats/superheroes. I changed my keys and the witness guiltyparties was very good to help me get off the blacklist. But during this time I kept reading about all the flagging and abuse going on but then I saw it's going on in plain sight and everyone just looks the other way.

Anyway I feel better now that I wrote my feelings down and also that I can post again. I don't post a lot and I usually just make some memes and have been getting back in shape so tried Actift. I'm not a major blogger and not a crypto expert. I like to make funny comments and support good members and will now be trying to help newer members to encourage them.

Now here's some memes I made

@slobberchops & @steevc you can see my discussion with @smooth in the comment section of this burn post https://steemit.com/steem/@burnpost/steem-experiment-burn-post-521 . There are some ideas to code in a burn directly into the rewards payout, which could be implemented into the next hardfork.

In addition one of my points is that each of the burn posts and SBDpotato posts are copied and pasted with only the date or post # changed. You are attentive and smart enough to see what I'm talking about correct? You guys routinely flag users for this very sin yet have turned a blind eye to these posts since they are above the "law". And I wrote all of this in my post so your reply is quite confusing(which would have not gotten your attention had I not abused a bidbot so I don't care about the flags or profit). In any event, just because they are doing something that is intending to help STEEM they are also making the trending page look like a Potato Cooking fest with images of Mr Potatohead and flames possibly doing more harm since the optics are terrible. Perhaps we can all collaborate with these burn posts and offer them different artwork, add new text which maybe highlight different minnows, maybe some fresh content.Maybe perhaps have it be a burn post without having to advertise it as such so the trending page doesn't embarrass us.

I think SFR does a good job and I'll put SFR on autovote to help make up for you guys having to flag me, however I would not have gotten your attention if I had not bought the vote.

You could have got my attention with a mention or comment. I do see problems with these posts dominating trending, but given the small size of the Steem community and the lack of other people visiting it is not the end of the world. I have enough to do dealing with people who are selfishly buying votes. I can only take off a few cents from each, so I use my downvotes where they can have an impact. It will take orcas and whales to impact on the trending posts.

Can't say I use rehashed content, for other's you may have a point. Do you have examples?

You know buying votes is frowned upon now and yet this post got a vote of $7.29 for the 25 STEEM used to buy the vote.

If your work is good enough, there's no need for it anymore. It will be seen and justly rewarded.

bid bot misuse, @steemflagrewards

Steem Flag Rewards mention comment has been approved for SFR Token Issuance!

Tokens will be transferrred when the flagged content reaches payout.

Thank you for reporting this abuse, @slobberchops.

  • bid bot misuse
Violation of promotional service TOS, use of promotional services for ROI, or overpromoted content.
Over-promoted content generally points to low quality content or self-aggrandizing trending spot hogging

I've not been paying attention to the potato, but I assume since some big witnesses support it the intention is good. People tend to ignore that SFR has limited resources and can only do so much. We all support lots of small accounts between us. We should each do what we can for the good of Steem.

Is this 'virtue signalling'? I don't keep up with the current name-calling trends.

the road to hell is paved with good intentions and you know what they say about making assumptions ? The irony is that I am also intending to do something "good" by bringing attention to a big problem yet I am flagged (which I was expecting and demonstrates my point) and they are not flagged. Double Standard much ?

You are not necessarily flagged for your opinions (not by me anyway), but you will get flagged for buying votes.

don't care about the flags, wanted eyes on the post so we can find a way to get Potato Heads and Flames off of the trending page

See if you can do that without buying votes. That just will not work. Talk to people who may be interested.

"but I assume some big witness support it the intention is good"

Is it though? Maybe yes, maybe not, but the problem here is that they are trying to fix a non existent problem with a useless solution that bring in new problems.

Big witness don't know everything.

Word

I totally agree that these kinda repeated posts are trash regardless of who posts them. That's why I downvote every single one. At least then they lose a few cents worth of rewards.

I'm even thinking of ramping up my stake in steem just to have more powerful downvotes.

additional extra milking comment #3 to vote to help offset the virtue signaling double standard flaggers that will flag this because I didn't set rewards to null. They like to write things like "Downvoted because of bought votes. For Proof-of-Brain to work on Steem, buying votes must be strictly for paid promotion only and thus have negative return on investment." . But I don't see Proof of any Brains for so many of the autogenrated potato and burn posts, so they can flag away and demonstrate their double standards and "Proof of Virtue Signaling".

Generally speaking, I think the flags against those using bots are another form of "disagreeing with rewards" which is the number one reason to downvote something. The whole point of upvoting/downvoting after all is to influence how rewards are distributed. More rewards for bot operators and those who use them mean less for everyone else. In the case of potato/burn posts, it is perceived that those are helping the value of steem and/or SBD and are therefor helping everyone or at the very least that the rewards are not being used for selfish purposes. Also (AFAIK), those votes aren't bought. In the case of those that buy votes for profit, it is different. I would think the reasons would be obvious.

may the force be with you and all of your alt accounts

?

you may be interested in this post where votes were purchased and steemflagrewards + lots of others that flagged my post voted the post. How can they flag me and then vote a post for doing the same thing I did?

please remove your flags from my post or flag the other post or be proven a hypocrite

So I'm a hypocrite if I don't flag every single post on the Steem blockchain that uses bots? That's not practical or even possible, at lest not with manual curation. I'd never seen that post until you mentioned it but incidentally I did flag it as it did seem to be using bid bots to inflate its value significantly.
