You Have Been Delivered

He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves.
Colossians 1:13 (NET)

Deliverance is one of the things that has not been rightly taught in many churches today. This concept of deliverance is something that we must take a very critical look at. You will see many Christian gathering dubbed "deliverance service". But the question is, have we received deliverance or we are now to be delivered?

Considering the tense of the verbs used in the scripture above we see that they are in the past tense which means that it has already happened.

To be delivered means to be rescued, freed or redeemed. You only need deliverance when you are into slavery or in bondage. And the place of your bondage determines the kind of deliverance you need. The opening text says God delivered us from the power of darkness which denotes that we were all enslaved in the power of darkness (devil). We were ruled by the devil and he was our dictator, mentor and master as well. But glory be to God, Jesus Christ through his sacrificial death on the cross invaded the territory of the devil and took us from that place of total destruction.

Let's look what the Prophet Isaiah also said;
" Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
But thus saith the Lord, even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children". Isaiah 49: 24-25

This depicts how the Lord contended with our adversary to deliver us from him. Note the part that says, "I will save thy children", that is, our deliverance. Salvation is the same as deliverance. So anybody who believes he has received salvation has also received deliverance as well.

Stop praying for deliverance because it is once and for all. Jesus settled it two thousand years ago. All you need to do is to study your bible and know that you have been delivered.
Am assuring you today that there is no deliverance from the devil greater than what Jesus through his death gave to us.
