Who is an Advocate?

An advocate is a person who works for a group.
An advocate is one that pleads the cause of another.
An advocate is one that supports or promotes the interest of another.

John in our text today offers reassurance to people who are feeling guilty and condemned.

We know that Jesus died for the sins of the world, but the first portion of our text is talking about the sins of the believer.

Though we do not expect any Christian to sin, our loving God has made provision for any of his children who may slip and fall.

1 John 2:1b says and if any man sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus the righteous.

You may find it easy to forgive an ignorant man, but when a friend decides to offend you, it will be another ball game.

But out of love, God made provisions for the world and the believers.

The very thought of this love should make us rejoice always and reverence he who exhibits this love.

Whenever you feel unworthy because you shortfalls, do not give up.

The best defense attorney in the universe is pleading your case.
He has suffered your penalty.

He took your place. You cannot be tied again for a case that is no longer on the dock.

United with Jesus, you are as safe as he is. He has never lost a case and yours cannot be an exemption.

Brethren, our advocate's love is a sure foundation.
