TO HEAL THE HEART AND LIFE

Because also I, that I am a subaltern, I have soldiers under my command, and I say to this: "Go away", and go; and to another: "Come," and it comes; and to my servant: "Do this," and he does. When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those who followed him, "I assure you that in Israel I have not found such great faith in anyone" (Matthew 8, 5-10). Although physical and moral suffering have a very special sense and value, which derive from the fact that God the Father wanted - or at least allowed - that Jesus saved us precisely because of suffering, it is not, as some may believe, to suffer for suffering, nor is it to blindly accept suffering, or to suffer in a passive, resigned, conformist way, without doing anything to avoid pain, to diminish it, or at least to control its consequences in some way.

God who wants us happy, also wants us to face pain in an active, diligent, effective way, trying to alleviate it in whatever is within our reach, and to live what comes out of our hands and we can not change, with our forehead in high, in inner and outer peace, with our eyes and our hearts set on Jesus crucified and risen, winner of death, because he, Jesus, is our hope for a better life.
God himself invites us to seek with insistence, with all our capacities - physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual -, to heal our heart and our life, our soul and our body, our whole being, of all pain, and puts in our hands the necessary instruments to achieve it, or at least, so that we can avoid its destructive action and orient it with success to our spiritual good.
Medicine, psychology, psychiatry, and in general, all human sciences and knowledge that help us to alleviate pain, or that teach us to sublimate or overcome it, respecting our dignity as children of God, they are welcome and blessed by God. Sacred Scripture tells us very clearly:
"He gives the doctor, for his services, the honors he deserves, that the Lord also created for him.
Healing comes from the Most High, like a gift from the king that is received. The science of the doctor enhances his head, and before the great is admired. The Lord put medicines on earth, the prudent man does not disdain them.

Son, in your illness, do not be negligent, but pray to the Lord, that He will heal you. Put away the faults, straighten your hands, and purify the heart of all sin.
Offer incense and memorial of fine flour, make plentiful offerings according to your means. Then turn to the doctor, because the Lord created him also to him, that he does not depart from your side, because he has needed of him.
There are times when the solution is in your hand, because they too will beg the Lord to put you on the right path to relief and to healing in order to save your life "(Ecclesiastes 38, 1-4.9-14)
Wanting to heal the heart, to want to heal life, is, therefore, perfectly valid for all, even more, we could even say that it is an obligation, because of the health of our heart, of our To be whole - soul and body - depend greatly on our actions in the world that God created for us; so that we could complete his creative work with our work, enjoy its beauty, its riches and its well-being, and share it with all men and women, in joyful harmony.

But healing the heart is not something that is achieved once and for all. Nor is it something we can achieve with our own strengths, however much we want it and no matter how smart and determined we are. The inner healing, the healing of the heart, is a process that develops step by step, slowly; a process in which he participates directly and actively, first God, the best doctor for all the ills that afflict the heart of man; a process that demands of us first of all a very willing to heal us, open our spirit to the loving and healing action of God through faith, and unite to it our determined will, our effort without measure and a good dose of constancy.
Inner healing is a process that many times, more than we imagine, also requires the direct participation of other people:
of knowledgeable professionals of the human being, of friends and of relatives.
• How is this healing process developed?

The process of healing the heart, basically develops in four steps or moments that are given one after another, without it being possible, most of the time, strictly delimit and without that we can not indicate to each one a specific duration, because each person is a particular case and there are no rules or measures for anyone. These four steps are:
1.- Awareness of the person's reality and the presence in it of pain, suffering, and decision to overcome the painful situation that is experienced. It is absolutely necessary to want to heal the heart. Without this decision the healing process is automatically canceled.
2.- In-depth examination of personal history and identification of the facts that cause suffering and people directly
linked to these facts.
3.- Acceptance conscious and active of the painful events as they happened, people who participated in them and the consequences that followed them, and also acceptance the sufferings in themselves, in order to overcome the anguish, the pain they produce, and give them a new meaning that goes beyond themselves.
4.- Active and total forgiveness, which definitively seals the wounds of the heart and makes possible inner peace, tranquility, harmony, with oneself, with others, with the world and with God.

Forgiveness is the beginning, the foundation of peace, of all peace: the interior, the heart, with ourselves, and outer peace, with others. In fact, it is an indispensable requirement of the healing of the heart and of life. If we do not know how to forgive, or do not want to forgive, all our efforts will be useless and heart wounds will last until we change our attitude.
Supported in God, strengthened with his infinite and merciful love and with all his special gifts and graces, let us begin our process of healing of the heart and of life, which will recover for us the spiritual peace, the intimate harmony that we all long for, and is the foundation of the true and only happiness, the happiness that comes from God and is from God.
