Phishing Scam Site (WARNING): steamit.ga

in scam •  7 years ago

I got another comment from a phishing scam site, this time by the user @dcaroa. They post a comment saying one of your recent posts was copied and pasted by another user on their blog/page:

@felixjasper copy your post without your permission :
The Cowardly Mindset of "It's Extreme to Push Your Opinions of What's Wrong"

But the user in question, @felixyasper, doesn't even exist.

You will see your post copied under a fake URL like this, prompting you to log in:

https://steamit.ga/steemit/@felixyasper/the-cowardly-mindset-of-it-s-extreme-to-push-your-opinions-of-what-s-wrong/login/

Please DO NOT login at the above link. It is a scam site that will try to rob you blind!

It looks exactly like Steemit.com, but it isn't. Always be vigilant and check the URL in the address bar when you get prompted to login to Steemit/Steem.

As I said in a recent post about another phishing scam:

If you put in your Steem username and password into just any site online, you may end up having your account compromised and possibly have SBD or STEEM transfered out. Make sure to know where you are logging into. Do some research before just handing over your user/pass to some site you clicked on.

Be careful everyone. These scam sites and accounts are popping up more and more it seems... :/

Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

Thanks for sharing the world about the ongoing scams. I've got us browser extensions made to prevent this kind of attacks. Steemed Phish works 10/10 and I got a warning as soon as I opened the phish.

Help us spread the word as far as you can!

Oh, thanks for the alert, now we will be careful for these scammers

I added this to issue #2689 in the Steemit frontend.

What is going on with so many of these lately?

Normally it stays logged, so it doesn't need to ask for the login again. If the site asks for the login again... double triple check... or better.. close the tab directly... I guess... And always use the posting key only unless the active is really needed, then you triple check.

another trick may be to use night mode, so if you see steemit in day mode... suspicious 100%.

Right, why bother entering login details again when we are already login.

There's so many scam sites as of lately. Gotta be careful all the time!

Thanks for the heads up, is it just me or are we seeing more and more of these?

It is like these folks have nothing better to do with their time than to scam you. What a shame. I wish we could put end to their evils doings. Thanks @krnel

Thanks for the information, this is worrying.

It seems they are devising a new means if the old one is known. I call them lazy ass cos they refuse to change the world positively rather wants to steal from it. Keep exposing them @krnel

Thanks for sharing this information,

Thanks @krnel

Come on peoples lets Resteem this Scam Alert to the COMMUNITY

Keep STEEM N ON,
Frank

Resteem...

It is incredible how they are taking out a fraudulent page that seeks to steal the poor penny from new minnows ones who have no experience on the platform and are easy targets for scammers

I don't why these bullshit people are doing this.
Don't they work hard to get paid?

got the same right now. how to get the side down?

Being that my eyes are not as good as they once were, I do need to take my time when entering keys and passwords. They are a lot of fraudulent sites. I try to be conscious of the lock in the URL. I sign in with posting key but I'm still not sure what to use the Memo key for.

Try using password manager because it wont provide login details if the site is not registered.

Man these people are everywhere now!

We need to make sure these wankers don't get away with it - resteemed
