I Need Help From My Whale Friends To Flag Scammer, @elena2017 Who Stole the Identity of An Artist

@stellabelle - I am unable to fathom how someone can pass off someone else's work as their own and have any iota of pride or decency left. Such scams need to be nipped in the bud. I do not have bog voting power unfortunately but I can volunteer to do necessary legwork to help in keeping Steemit clear of such scams.. If you (or any Senior Steemian) who can guide me on this aspect, I can spend time available at my disposal to help in investigations.

In this respect, I was thinking of the mechanism by which people can voice their suspicions of scams. Many times people note some aberrations but perhaps choose to not report or raise their voice because everyone will come to know about the person who points a finger. While transparency is encouraged on Steemit, perhaps there should be some mechanism of protecting privacy of the good samaritans in this particular aspect? Something akin to whistleblower protection protocol adapted in large corporations ?? I am fairly new here so perhaps wrong but thought it is worth mentioning.

There is a lot of desperation here, very sad with the extent some folks go... there are those that mean well and others who just out to game the system at all cost... probably you can message dan he got some serious SP and more responsive, or adm guy got a lot SP as well... you have to fish people out before you jump on their train

Yeah it is - some painters and artist work hard and not many people see it. Some paint 12 hours a day and it can be very exhausting

Yes, and I believe there are many such elaborate ring scams. But we have @sherlockholmes to really help investigate these rings. And probably many more investigators will be inspired.......I am just glad someone caught this before it got to be a big account.

This is sad. While the Steemit community is more inclined towards finding and voting original content, obviously, doing that is much more difficult for the lesser known artists/creators.

Obviously, the credit goes to @sherlockholmes,whom I have followed now.

I think, while we ourselves may not always have the ability or time to catch scammers/thieves, we can at least support those who do so.

It aggravates me when people try to deceive people and give off a fake persona, so they benefit only for themselves while doing no work. At least the user's posts have been flagged to zero, but that doesn't prevent the huge following she has created as well as it is annoying how she was able to benefit financially for ripping off someone else's work and impersonating them.

No wonder they posted so many updates regarding your portrait @stellabelle. They just wanted to make as much money as possible. At least have got rid of this scamming piece of scum and it does go to show how the point I made in a previous post 'We Are All Selfish' comes to life here.

This is why I wish sometimes that we had a separate flagging power. It's tough to stop this sort of stuff without major support. The abuser seems to have the tactical advantage.

It happens, but thankfully, to my knowledge rarely. The internet maybe big... as big as the number of people using it, so that means more eyes, and people are bound to be caught out. So ripping some ones work off may work... for a short while. So a coordinated effort like this should teach them a short hard lesson.

Oh wow. I was a fan too!

It's ridiculous- I have only been here a couple months but I have seen an large increase in shady doings and outright scams. I seem to have come in on that huge wave of new registers that feels like has waned dramatically, and I believe there were many scammers in that wave :(

Good of you to bring it up, I came to check on the Steem wiki, but this is just as important, good to see some morals around here. I'm going to say that there are many scam accounts for sure, especially from the last months and this year in general. I suppose that's why cheetah got started and the verification was quite important in the start.

Now I think that we are a bit overwhelmed with everything.

But yes, sooner or later it all evens out and you can't keep a scam going for long, sadly here you can just start over fresh. It's really sad seeing what people are doing with their time, before it was email and phone scams, swinging grannys of their savings. People's discontent with the "system" could be the main reason, but I would still put some responsibility on the person, it's actually better to work a dead end job if you have to then scam people.
