Parents of students attending Hammarskjold High School, who has been the target of 14 threats in 9 weeks, want measures in place to keep the school open by ensuring the safety of all. Anonymous threats have repeatedly led to the closure of the Thunder Bay facility in northwestern Ontario.
This request was made by several participants at a meeting held Tuesday night by the school council to share information and gather community questions for the Lakehead School Board and the police.
The same thing should be done at school as for airport security
, said one participant. To search the young people, to check all the bags, so that when the threats arrive, one can say to oneself "It is unfounded, continue our day as usual".

According to what was reported by a school council member, threats do not always occur at the same time. Sometimes it's very early in the morning, but sometimes it's just before classes start.
Another mother noted that since the beginning of the week, preventive confinements in other schools were lifted at 9:30 am, even before classes at Hammarskjold School began.
She wonders why students are not allowed to go to school once they have made sure there is no danger, especially so early in the day.
