Sad FAct about California Public Schools

in schools •  6 years ago

Sad Fact: California has the largest network of public schools in the country — and also one of the worst-performing. Only 29.2% of fourth graders in the state are proficient in math, and only 27.8% are proficient in reading — each the third lowest share of any state. Meanwhile CA is 49 in highest cost of living. Has the most expensive housing in the country.

Now here is the kicker: Schools are funded in large part from property taxes. California's public schools receive funding from three sources: the state (57%), property taxes and other local sources (29%), and the federal government (14%).

Still CA is one of the lowest per student spending despite being the wealthiest state. Something to keep in mind, California is MASSIVE in population. California has more people than Canada !

What can be done to fix this ?

Priorities.? maybe little less on warships and more on schools. Just an idea
