Summit can calculate 200 trillion or 200 fetaflops per second.

So far, Sunway Taihulight supercomputer, the world's most powerful computer, had 93 petaflop processing power.

Summit will first be used in astrophysics, cancer research and system biology.

The computer in Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORLN) in Tennessee province was developed in partnership with IBM and NVidia.

Supercomputers are large, expensive systems designed for specific computationally intensive tasks and composed of tens of thousands of processors.

Summit has 4.608 computer servers and 10 petabytes of memory.

Director of ORLN Thomaz Zacharia stated that Summit was used in comparative gene studies during the construction phase.

Zacharia said, "When Kelmenin literally joins the parts of the system, you use the machine and think about driving a race car while you put your wheels on."

'We returned to the game'
According to the world's major supercomputers published last year, the United States has 143 of the world's 500 supercomputers, while China has 202 supercomputers.

The US's fastest supercomputer Titan was in the 5th rank.

US Energy Secretary Rick Perry said, "We know it's a competition, and it's important who gets to the bottom of the mark, it's important for the United States to show such a strong backdrop to the game."
