It is cheap and available in almost every supermarket. Natron or sodium bicarbonate. It is a true all-rounder and I want to show you how this simple powder can bring a great benefit to your body and this way life.
Ask your grandparents if they know natron as baking soda. In the past, it was quite normal to add sodium bicarbonate to everyday food. Before baking powder was virtually invented, sodium bicarbonate was a constant companion in all kinds of recipes. (Baking powder is a mixture of sodium bicarbonate, an acid and a separating agent such as flour or maize starch)

As the trend continues to move towards naturalness, sodium bicarbonate is gaining more and more enthusiastic users who no longer want to do without this miracle cure. Natron is being used more and more frequently for well-being, and is then the main component in many recipes.
Although sodium bicarbonate seems quite inconspicuous, it has a great influence on our body and should not be missing in any household. It can help among other things with
- headaches
- bad breath
- feeling of fullness and heartburn
This wonder drug has no unpleasant side effects and is an extremely inexpensive and over-the-counter antacid, which means it neutralizes stomach acid.
The effect
The fact that the powder is so versatile is due to the fact that the sodium bicarbonate has an antibacterial, a deodorizing (odour-killing) and also a fungicidal effect. With the help of the basic pH value, it neutralizes acids, making life uncomfortable for bacteria.
In the same way, it is also made difficult for fungi, which also need an acid culture medium to grow. Due to these alkaline properties, sodium bicarbonate is optimally suited to support the body. Acids are removed from the body and the maintenance of a natural acid-base balance is supported.

Sodium bicarbonate creates an anti-inflammatory environment
Researchers at Augusta University in Georgia/USA were able to show in a study that sodium bicarbonate apparently stimulates the spleen to create this anti-inflammatory environment.
Drinking a soda solution (e.g. ½ tsp. natron powder in a glass of water) leads to a temporary neutralization of the gastric acid (this is way it helps against heartburn). However, the sodium bicarbonate solution not only affects the stomach, but obviously also the above-mentioned spleen, an important organ of our immune system. It sends the message to certain cells of the spleen that an immune reaction is not necessary.
These cells also line both the inside of hollow organs, such as the stomach or intestines, and the outside of organs, so that they can slide and do not rub against each other.
Conversation between sodium bicarbonate and these spleen cells takes place with the help of the messenger substance acetylcholine (chemical substance that transmits nerve impulses). The result is an environment that inhibits inflammatory processes and thus reduces chronic inflammatory diseases.
This makes it much easier for the spleen to detect viruses and bacteria and dispose of them as "garbage".
And how much should I drink now?
If you want to use sodium bicarbonate therapeutically, drink three times a day a glass of still water (at least 120 ml) with about ½ tsp. sodium bicarbonate powder. This is best done outside meals, unless you are suffering from severe heartburn. Neutralization of stomach acid should be avoided before and during meals (1 hour before and 2 hours after meals), as stomach acid is responsible for proper digestion, among other things.
A little tip from me. Don't worry about it tasting weird. Simple rule: If you don't taste anything, it's too little, if it tastes "bahh", it's too much. Once you have found the right amount for you, the water will tast better than normal water. It tastes a lot softer!
