Bill Nye is spun as a scientist to the public, and Bill Nye The Science Guy was the title of his past TV show. Many will say he is no scientist. He's a gatekeeper shill along with many others such as NdGT.
Most of what Nye threw out in that particular Q&A segment is nonsense, be it the speed of light travel bits, and the trash part, which if anything, further underscores the key nugget of our "closed system."
This is part of the deception process. They do throw out truths but it is always mixed with mis- and disinformation. Here is another example with William Shatner re the difference between science and science fiction as another tiny kernel. It's at the beginning and this leaves more in for context you felt was missing in the last segment.
One element of their narrative is that they have to tell us the truth even if buried with other words, or by using symbols, numerology and other clues. It can be covert or overt, and applies to many different topics. Here are three completely unrelated visual examples that are telling you something.
As for going to the moon in general, it is not some place we can go. Depending on your familiarity with that, as one of many potential jump-off points, consider Bart Sibrel's "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Moon" (2001) [47 min. long]
There is a plethora of information and analysis on this topic, beyond the above documentary, as well as all the other elements of humanity's "space" efforts to date, be it NASA and going to the moon, satellites, the Space Shuttle and ISS, and all the other countries' programs.
Here's another apt shortie segment, about going to the moon (or not, again), and onward to Mars, Venus or Europa.
"Space may be the final frontier, but it's made in a Hollywood basement." - Californication by The Red Hot Chili Peppers (1999).
It is all something one needs to figure out for oneself. No one can tell anyone the truth. One needs to be willing to do the hard work and figure it all out for oneself. There are ample free resources. The journey is all inside your mind, thinking and using logic. The hard part is untying all the deeply ingrained beLIEfs we hold from the start of our education programming. They teach us what to think, and not how to think. Once one starts to question things and do one's own research, one starts to open up a whole new world on all fronts.
Just about all that we are taught and led to believe is not so. But it's up to you to suss it all out and not take anyone's word for it, including here. All of it is interconnected though in the end.
