Imagine if we could perfect our cells at a molecular level to curb aging. This would effectively mean, reducing the obvious diseases and illnesses that are associated with getting old. People studying this are passionate about increasing healthspan, as opposed to lifespan. No one wants to live in pain or struggle with disease.
I have personal experience noticing how rusty, brassy and down right UGLY the “golden years” can be! Watching people you love get old is so hard.
Those who have a lot of tech money are getting excited about investing it in advances in biology and the science of anti-aging. Known as gene therapy and while still a few years away from reaching the masses, it is captivating.
Google itself has invested in Calico to see how hormone therapy can help aging as well as various other ideas.
In America the argument that aging is a disease is currently ongoing. The reason is so the FDA can give the go ahead to clinical trials. Currently FDA approval for anti-aging drugs to minimize age related diseases is not available.
