Yes, humans didn't evolve from monkeys. Both humans and monkeys evolved from some other common creature. The above image is a misrepresentation of the pathway. Its an unfortunate thing, because images like the one above are quite common, and they lead to some fairly prominent misconceptions among people. Its honestly no wonder people question the validity of evolution, when the information isn't even being presented clearly to them in the first place.
