There is an actual disease called ‘Vampire Disease’

  There is an actual disease called the vampire disease and as much as you would love to dress as a vampire during Halloween, I bet you don’t want to contract its disease. 

This disease doesn’t make you sleep in caskets but it sure has the no-sun effect on you as well as blood craving. Vampire disease is also called porphyria. This disease affects either the skin or the nervous system or oftentimes both. It is an hereditary disease that causes the inability of the body to produce Heme (an important component of the red blood cell). The inability for the body to produce heme lead to abnormal cravings of the body for blood in order to replace the deficiency. People affected with the disease are likely to attack animals and human.  

Symptoms of the Vampire disease include : 

1.  Skin sensitivity to light which results to rashes, blisters and scarring. 

2. Abdominal cramps and pain are seen in some forms of the disorder only.  

3. Mental disturbances, seizures and other problems related to the muscles and the nervous system.   

Treatments of Vampire disease include  the administering of Sedatives to lessen anxiety and to let you rest, Hematin (intravenous), Propranolol to control fast heart beat and Pain relievers. 

To prevent the onset of attacks, you may be advised to do the following: 

1.  Avoid sunlight 

2.  Avoid drugs that trigger attacks 

3.  Avoid Alcohol 

4. Avoid skin injury 

5. Eat excess carbohydrates intake
