TEOTWAWKI Escape To the Caves

Can you live like the Neanderthals?

Recently, I have been following some information about a micro-Supernova and its possible effects on Earth. There is belief that the Earth goes through a 12,000 year extinction level cycle. And those people who are looking into it, think that maybe a micro-Supernova is the cause of it and we are due for one in the next few decades. A micro-Supernova is when a star bursts out a massive plasma pulse, like a supernova, but doesn't destroy itself.

There are other theories, that ancient people's were around during some of these 12,000 year events. These people recorded the events in stories, that today are considered myths and legends. However, the question becomes, how did the people survive these Extinction Level Events (ELE)?

Beyond the effects of solar radiation during a supernova, the after effects would be an ice age. Not that the entire Earth would end up as a ball of ice, but a large portion of it would suffer the effects of the storms, cold and all sorts of other issues. I will also point out, that this ELE might include a polar shift that would move the continents around, so picking a warm climate for your escape, might not be the best outcome after the event.

It is suggested, that some megalithic structures were built as protection and not as temples. These structures seem to be impossible for the people of the times to build and have no obvious purpose. Based on the number of these structures and that they are spread around the world, it would seem that something was happening to the Earth to encourage ancient people to build them.

Well, if you don't have access to large slabs of stone and megalithic machinery to move them into place, there is an alternative. Caves.

Luckily, for people living on the East Coast of the US and especially those living in Kentucky, there are plenty of caves to be found.

As a child, I visited Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, which is the longest cave on the East Coast. When I went as a kid, they didn't have hand rails or cemented walk ways. If there was a TEOTWAWKI event that needed a place to escape, Mammoth Cave would be a perfect choice. As long as you figured out how to create electricity to provide light and airflow.

But, as you can get an idea from the map above, there are caves all throughout the Appalachian Mountain Range. So, with the right amount of planning, you could find a secret hide-away off of the Appalachian Trail to keep your small group safe. Because, the one draw back to Mammoth Cave and other tourist spots, would be that most people would know where that is.

Better get spelunking!!

have you ever heard of gamma ray burster?

  • the most violent explosions in the Universe, with some releasing more energy in 10 seconds than what the Sun will emit in its entire 10 billion year lifetime!

Well, that would certainly end the party.

on only ONE side of the earth...the darkside wouldn't be affected.
large animal hurt worst.

Theories about the high amount of precious gems in India are that it got hit on that side by some sort of explosion from space.

The Quaternary extinction event comes to mind.
