Before modern technology and time, it was highly believed that the stars, cosmic bodies, planets moved around Earth. Today, it is well thought that only our Moon - natural satellite moves or rotates around the Earth. Our Moon is the closest cosmic body found than any star or planet found in the entire galaxy. The moon is highly different and distinct in any cosmic body in the universe.
Basic Facts about Our Moon
Our Moon, in recent studies show that it has an atmosphere. An atmosphere different from Earth. The Moon's atmosphere contain and is made up of exceptional and bizarre gases such as Hydrogen, Potassium, Sodium, Helium and Argon. Methane, Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide and Oxygen also show up but in extreme low quantities. Although the Moon has an Atmosphere, it is also believed that is almost a vacuum. On the other hand, the Moon is also subject to great levels of solar winds and has no weather.
The Moon doesn't emits light on its own. It borrows its light shone to the Earth by the Sun. The Moon is also both hot and cold. On the side of the Moon facing the Sun, it is hot while the opposite side or the side facing away the sun is very cold.
The phase or appearance of the Moon depends on its position to the Sun. 27.3 days is the days to complete one revolution around the Earth. Due to its elliptical orbit, the distance between the Earth and the Moon is not constant. There times the Moon is nearest to the Earth and there are times the Moon is farthest to Our Planet.
Our Moon also affects the Earth's Tides. The gravitational attraction between the Earth and the Moon causes bodies of water in the Earth to rise and fall. In a day, we experience two high tides and two low tides.
Our Moon is the only heavenly body near to us. We should appreciate its help and beauty empowering the Earth to withstand any other planets found in the universe.
